Klinik Farma – Policy, Law and Security Coordinating Minister (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud asked PT Bali Towerindo Sentra not to defend himself in the case of his company’s fiber optic cable, which allegedly lured a 20-year-old youth named Sultan Rif’at Alfatih into a trap. he couldn’t speak.
He said that PT Bali Towerindo had to approach the Sultan in a family way, without having to speak through a lawyer.
“Bali Tower is supposed to take a more Indonesian and humane approach. Not too formalistic, then speak through lawyers in a very defensive manner, and so on. Resolve this well, God willing, I am optimistic,” Mahfoud, MD, said while visiting Sultan at the National Police Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta on Friday (04/08/2023).
He hopes that this case can be resolved through mediation, without going to court.

“If the law is the best, start with mediation, end with mediation, the two sides will meet, then what and how to do is number one,” he said.
“If this is the law, then the law will effectively end the conflict. If the matter goes to court or trial, it is because the conflict was not resolved in a good way, so the judiciary should take care of it,” he continued.
But the most important thing, according to Mahfud, was the state of health of the Sultan.
“But this is later, the main thing is, first of all, recovery,” he said.
During the visit, Mahfud said that the Sultan’s condition had improved. They communicated via text messages typed on their mobile phones.

“I saw that the condition of the Sultan, who suffered from a natural disaster, improved. I have been talking on the cell phone, hope for all our prayers, he still has the enthusiasm to continue his studies and return to the campus,” Mahfoud said.
Called pure coincidence
PT Bali Towerindo’s lawyer Makdeer Ismail denied that the incident with the Sultan was due to the company’s negligence.
“The entanglement incident in the fiber optic cable (fiber optic cable) at Jalan Antasari, South Jakarta was pure coincidence. Not the result of company negligence,” McDeere said during a press conference in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. Thursday (03/08/2023).
McDeere said the cable, owned by Bali Tower, was in no condition to hang out on the street. Because on December 26, 2022, an internal investigation found that the cable was still in good condition and stretched over 5.5 meters in height.
This was also backed up by a traffic accident report dated January 7, 2023, which stated that the incident was an isolated incident.
However, McDeere stated that his side was not aware of the condition of the cable on which the accident occurred. The Bali Tower also found that the pole had buckled since the incident.
“It is suspected that there was a vehicle over 5.5 meters high in which the cable was involved. So repairs were carried out on Thursday, January 6, at the Bali Tower, because there was information about the shutdown of the Internet and complaints from local parties,” he concluded.
