Klinik Farma – With the aim of preserving Indonesia’s seas, as well as supporting the company’s implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and Net Zero Emission (NZE), PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). with the Pertamine Foundation.
The Memorandum of Understanding titled “Collaboration in Realizing Natural Solutions and Blue Carbon” was signed by PIS CEO Yoki Firnandi and Pertamina Foundation President, Director Agus Mashud S. Asngari, and witnessed by PT Pertamina (Persero) CEO Nike Vidyawati.
Collaboration to develop the Nature’s Solution and Blue Carbon initiatives will later take the form of a series of activities that include support for NZE PIS commitments, Pertamina Ocean Warrior, blue carbon ecosystem restoration, and the blue carbon research program.
“In line with PIS’s vision to become Asia’s leading maritime logistics company, the company’s involvement in keeping Indonesia’s oceans sustainable is a form of care. In addition to promoting green shipping and green cargo, we are also committed to supporting the preservation of the marine environment as a blue carbon ecosystem that will help mitigate the impact of climate change. This includes the conservation of marine megafauna, namely whale sharks,” said Yoki Firnandi, CEO of PIS.

The Pertamina Foundation is a foundation founded by PT Pertamina (Persero) that focuses on social and humanitarian activities, especially education, community empowerment, and the environment, especially new and renewable energy.
Pertamina Foundation President, Director Agus Mashud S. Asngari, explained that this collaboration with PIS is one of the first steps to address the issue of energy development that supports decarbonization, NZE and Indonesia’s marine ecosystem conservation efforts.
“We are partnering with Blue Carbon Initiatives with various stakeholders. To absorb carbon emissions by planting 1.4 million trees and conserving endemic fauna such as whale sharks,” Agus explained.
In addition to signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pertamina Foundation, PIS has also signed an apprenticeship agreement with PIS and Pertamina University. The collaboration was signed by PIS Director of Human Resources and Business Support Surya Tri Harto and Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs of Pertamine Budi University W. Soetjpto, Ph.D.
The scope of apprenticeship cooperation is open to student interns who are in their final year, as well as apprenticeships for graduates of undergraduate programs at the undergraduate (S1) level to secure the world of work and advance skills and competencies before getting a full-time job.
