Jakarta, Klinik Farma – Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Budi Gunadi Sadikin spoke about the fight against air pollution in the country. According to BGS (Budi Gunadi Sadikin’s nickname), Indonesia can emulate China’s moves.
“The best example is China. China can reduce pollution in 6-7 years.terrorize and managed to get off in 6-7 years. What the best in the world“, – he said at a working meeting with the IX Commission of the DPR RI on Wednesday (08/30/2023).
One of the steps China has taken is to install 1000 average quality monitors.
“But it’s not expensive, the main thing is that the coverage is good. If the air conditions are bad, they will send a car to find the source,” BGS said. “It could be incineration, transport, PLTU, or it could be the vehicle. So that they can carry out the correct intervention. They also know if the source is regional or local,” he continued.
BGS also identified five intervention measures taken by China to address air pollution. Here are the details:
1. Control of industrial emissions
2. Vehicle emissions control
3. Dust control
4. Air quality monitoring
5. Reducing risks and health impacts
At the same time, BGS said the Ministry of Health will focus more on recycling, particularly on reducing risks and health impacts, and helping to monitor air quality in health centers.
“We have sent this to the President’s office so that we can emulate this method,” BGS said.
