Longspan LRT causes a stir, it turns out it won two MURI records

Jakarta, Klinik Farma – The Jabodebek LRT long-span arch bridge connecting Gatot Subroto (Gatsu) and Kuningan sparked controversy after Deputy Minister of State Enterprises Kartika Virjoatmojo said the design was wrong.

In fact, a few years ago, the designers of the long-span project were praised by President Joko Widodo. At the time, Jokowi even uploaded it directly to his official social network, Instagram.

Initially, Jokowi stressed the difficulty of building a long-span bridge for the Jabodebek LRT railway, which hovers over the Kuningan flyover in South Jakarta. Since it is already hovering over the overpass, it is also curved in height.

“Fortunately, the engineer, Ms. Arvila Delitriane, a graduate of the Bandung Institute of Technology, managed to design this amazing bridge and it has been connected with precision since yesterday,” Jokowi wrote in his 2019 upload.

Jokowi also admitted that he would not be surprised if the design set two Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) records, namely as the longest-span curved concrete box train bridge and as the bridge with the largest axial static load test.

“Imagine the grandeur of this structure: it stretches 148 meters with a 115-meter bend radius and uses 9,688.8 tons of concrete material, more than three times the weight of the Garuda Vishnu Kenchan statue in Bali. 2929.7 iron was used. tons or the equivalent is more than five times the weight of an Airbus A-380,” Jokowi wrote.

This span is one of the most complex parts of the Zhabodebek LRT line design. BUMN Minister Eric Tohir even said that this infrastructure development broke the record for the longest span in the world.

“Congratulations to PT Adhi Karya Tbk. Congratulations to Mrs Dina,” Jokowi wrote.

Previously, BUMN Deputy Minister Kartika Wiryoatmojo stated that due to improper design, the corners were not wide enough, so the speed was reduced. If the curve of the bridge is widened, the Jabodebek LRT train will be able to continue running fast.

“It was a design error because when Adhi was building the bridge, he didn’t check the angle of the train. So now you have to go very slowly when turning because the turn has to be wider,” said Tico, his nickname.
