Jakarta, Klinik Farma – It appears that PKB Chairman Muhaymin Iskandar, aka Chak Yimin, is still the strongest candidate for Prabowo Subianto (bawapres) VP. This was announced by the Secretary General of the party Gerindra Ahmad Muzani.
Mouzani initially answered a question about the emergence of names such as Gibran Rakabouming to Erik Tohiru as Deputy Vice President of the General Chairman of Gerindra Party. However, he stressed that Chak Yiming is still a strong candidate.
“Bakawapres is now in its place, in our opinion, still Pak Muhaimin,” said Mouzani, quoted by CNN IndonesiaSaturday (8.12.2023).
Muzani acknowledged that while there has been a lot of haggling over cavapres due to the entry of several political parties into the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition (KKIR), Muzani stressed that Prabowo and PKB will still determine cavapres.
“The decision to accept the parties was also made with the approval of the PCB. We do not act unilaterally and applaud with one hand,” he said.
He also assessed Prabowo’s nomination process at the level of consolidation in order to get a stronger and larger coalition. Especially with PCB.
Mouzani also hopes that Golkar and PAN will soon give good news in support of Prabowo. The same is true of Gelora’s party, which has declared several times its intention to support Prabowo.
“Because of this, both the PKB and Gerindra continue to communicate approaches with other parties, both with parties that have seats in Senayan and with non-parliamentary parties,” he said.
On the other hand, Mouzani also confirmed that his relationship with Yenny Wahid is fine. This was in response to the announcement by the 4th President’s second daughter, Abdurrahman Wahid, that he would withdraw his and Gusduryan’s support if Prabowo chose PKB Chairman Mukhaymin Iskandar (Chak Yimin) as his running mate.
“There is no decision from the Vice President yet. Our relationship with Mbak Yenni is fine. God willing, everything will go smoothly,” he added.
Yenny had previously said that her extended family and Gusdurian would drop Prabowo’s support if he made Chuck Imin his running mate at an event with Rosie on Kompas Tv.
He doesn’t mind if Prabowo makes PCB and Chuck Imin his supporters. However, he sees this as a problem if he makes Chuck Imin a duo in the 2024 presidential election.
