Jakarta, Klinik Farma- The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the Eris variant of the Covid-19 virus as a variant under surveillance (VUM). It is known that a new variant of the Covid-19 virus, called EG.5.1, has begun to spread widely in the UK and several countries, including Asia.

The head of the Bureau of Communications and Public Services of the Ministry of Health of Indonesia City, Nadia Tarmizi, said that the Eris variant refers to the XBB.1.9 variant, which was discovered in February and continues to grow in August 2023, with a total of 45 patients.

Meanwhile, an epidemiologist at Griffith University in Australia, Dicky Budiman, believes that a further increase in the number of cases of Covid-19 after the removal of the Covid-19 emergency (KLB) status will continue for up to 2 decades.

Therefore, despite the lifting of the state of emergency, the government and society should not be carefree. It is hoped that the mutation of the virus will not be significant and will not reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine.
