Data on Potential Epidemic Diseases in Indonesia Integrated into SATUSEHAT Ministry of Health: Is Safety Guaranteed?

Review1761 Dilihat

klinikfarma.com Data on diseases with potential for epidemics in Indonesia will soon be integrated into the SATUSEHAT platform of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI). SATUSEHAT is part of the National Laboratory Command Center (NLCC) which is currently under construction at the Prof. Dr. Oemijati National Reference Laboratory in Jakarta. This aims to strengthen surveillance and preparedness in dealing with potential disease outbreaks in the future.

National Health Data Integration

NLCC is a national laboratory command center with international standards that aims to integrate all health laboratories at the regional and provincial levels. The project is expected to be completed in November 2023. As a result, examination of pathogens, such as viruses and bacteria, will be recorded and available more quickly at the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

SATUSEHAT Platform: Big Data System for Health

The SATUSEHAT platform is designed as a big data system that will collect and manage various health data, including data on diseases with potential for epidemics obtained from health laboratories. This is a significant step in efforts to improve understanding and monitoring of potential disease outbreaks in Indonesia.

Data Integration Challenges

While the integration of health laboratories at the regional and provincial levels is a step forward, it is not without challenges. Bridging systems that connect data to digital systems take a long time. As of November 2, 2023, around 15 regional health laboratories (labkesda) in several regions in Indonesia have been connected to the NLCC.

Pathogen Data Protection

Storing pathogen data at the NLCC connected to SATUSEHAT raises concerns about data security. The Ministry of Health has identified three important principles for maintaining the security of pathogen data. First, high integrity and loyalty from staff entering data. The second principle is immediate reporting by laboratory leaders regarding pathogen data findings. The third principle is storing the most important potential epidemic disease data on the SATUSEHAT platform which has a very good level of security.

Future Hope

The Indonesian Ministry of Health hopes that by the end of 2023, regional health laboratories will be integrated regionally. This project is expected to last for the next year. By integrating thousands of laboratories, future disease surveillance and control efforts are expected to be more efficient and effective.

Thus, the data available through SATUSEHAT will be a valuable asset in efforts to better monitor and control diseases in Indonesia.
